A new interface for finding trustworthy disciplinary research data repositories

Updated at: 10/11/2025

Sharing research data requires their storage in trustworthy repositories that have been approved by the scientific community, whether they are specialist, institutional or generalist. The Recherche Data Gouv repository (or ‘entrepôt’ in French) is a generalist repository, for example, that is intended to house those data that do not have a reference disciplinary repository. Specialist disciplinary repositories are known as ‘entrepôts thématiques’ in French.
To ensure the availability of accurate and up-to-date information about trustworthy repositories for French research data, the Research Data College of the French Committee for Open Science has developed a method for identifying trusted repositories, referred to as ‘entrepôts de confiance’ in French. The results are available in a regularly updated spreadsheet list which is hosted on the ‘Ouvrir la Science’ website.

In addition, to help researchers find the trustworthy specialist repositories, a dedicated webpage was created on the Recherche Data Gouv portal in May 2024. The interface has just been completely redesigned, and now offers faceted navigation and full-text searches to make finding and comparing these resources even easier.
