How do SICs examine the generation of information by artificial intelligence systems?

This dataset relates to the production of a policy brief on how information and communication sciences examine the generation of information by artificial intelligence systems. It was compiled from a review of articles taken from the list of journals recognised by Section 71 of the National Council of Universities, published between January 2022 and December 2024.

It comprises a Prisma diagram summarising the selection of the final corpus and the methodology employed, the bibliographical references that were collected and analysed throughout the selection process, and classifies the 30 articles comprising the final corpus into four thematic categories:

  • the potential and limitations of information production by artificial intelligence (AI) systems;
  • the distinction between information produced by humans and that produced by AIS;
  • the production of information by AIS from the perspective of the human–machine relationship;
  • and the ethical issues associated with the production of information by AIS.
