XKY Study
Discover two years of electricity consumption and production data from French smart meters across around a hundred French households with a subminute sampling.
In the field of modeling electricity consumption behavior among French households, access to observational data spanning long periods never simultaneously combines the ability to identify specific uses and users with spatial and temporal precision. The xKy project pursues two main objectives to address this gap through open research capable of examining the social and technical aspects of the energy transition.
The first objective is to provide gateways that connect to Linky smart meters, enabling individuals who wish to understand and reduce their energy costs to monitor their electricity consumption in real time.
The second objective is to forge a link between citizens and the research community through a participatory science experiment in the electricity field, facilitated by the transparency of these gateways: the designs and source code are made available as open source under a CC-BY-NC-ND license.
The current repository covers the years 2024–2025, including:
- Year 2024: 39 participants
- Year 2025: 108 participants
- Socio-technical data of the study participants
- Anonymized raw individual data from participants' Linky meters (apparent power, index, etc.) with a subminute sampling
- Data recalculated from raw data (daily consumption, power factor, active power, etc.) with a subminute sampling
- Weather data associated with the participants, compiled at the departmental level.
The repository is updated annually.
