Activity report of Recherche Data Gouv (2020-2024)

In July 2022, Recherche Data Gouv officially came into being. This inauguration, the culmination of a long process of co-construction, marked the transition from an ambition to a reality: to offer the scientific community local support for the FAIR management of research data and a sovereign and sustainable national service for their openness and sharing.
Four years later, considerable progress has been made. More than a repository or a portal, Recherche Data Gouv has established itself as a unifying system of expertise centers, bringing together more than 400 staff members from 81 partner institutions.
This report traces the key milestones of this collective adventure: its ambition, its genesis, its achievements, its partnerships—as well as the challenges ahead. It demonstrates the commitment of many stakeholders, working closely with research teams and across a wide range of institutions, to making data sharing a lever for quality, transparency, and the dissemination of knowledge.
As Recherche Data Gouv prepares to take a new step in its development, establishing a lasting presence in the research landscape in France and Europe, this document is intended to serve as both a record of the journey already taken and a foundation upon which to build, together, the next steps forward.
