The Recherche Data Gouv repository-registry resource centre is running dedicated virtual courses on the ecosystem's repository :

 

Practical information

  • You can access these virtual courses without registering beforehand.
  • A single access link provides access to all training sessions - https://bbb.visio.inrae.fr/b/cla-iui-rpi-mtg
  • The virtual courses take place on the Big Blue Button platform.
  • Participants need access to a computer with a web browser (we recommend Chrome or Firefox) and a headset.
  • Course support material will be available to download during the session.
  • The courses are in French. 

  

Virtual course on 'Depositing datasets in the Recherche Data Gouv repository'

Target audience: anyone liable to use the Recherche Data Gouv repository.

This virtual course explains how to deposit a dataset in the repository. This session covers the following points:

  • Presentation of Recherche Data Gouv
  • Key concepts
  • Using the repository

Virtual course on 'Administering a collection in the Recherche Data Gouv repository'

Target audience: administrators of institutional spaces or collections.

This virtual course explains how to manage a collection in the repository. This session covers the following points:

  • Creating and configuring a collection
  • Role and responsibilities of administrators
  • Additional functions

Virtual class 'Curation in the Recherche Data Gouv Repository'

Target audience: anyone involved in curation in the repository. 

This virtual class will provide you with best practices for curating the collections for which you are responsible. Curation is the process by which administrators and curators check metadata quality of submitted datasets, in line with FAIR principles. This workshop requires active participation and covers the following points:

  • Objectives of curation
  • How to check the general metadata
  • Practical applications

Prerequisites: none. It is advisable to create a sandbox account (https://demo.recherche.data.gouv.fr/) a few days before the virtual class.

Virtual course on 'Discovering the Recherche Data Gouv repository's APIs'

Target audience: anyone who wants to find out about Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and their functionalities along with similar repository tools.

This virtual course gives an introduction to APIs - commands that enable you to use repository functionalities from scripts or information systems. This session covers the following points:

  • Key repository concepts
  • Complementary repository tools
  • What is an API?
  • Presentation of the repository's APIs
  • Practical applications

Virtual course 'Using the Recherche Data Gouv repository APIs'

Target audience: anyone with some knowledge of APIs or who has taken the 'Discovering…' course and now wants to use the repository's APIs.

This virtual course explains the more in-depth use of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) through practical exercises. This means this virtual course requires participants to participate actively. This session covers the following points:

  • Key concepts of APIs and the repository
  • Practical use of repository APIs:
  • How to log in
  • Searching for data
  • Depositing data
  • Managing a dataset or collection

Prerequisites:

  • Previous knowledge of APIs or participation in the 'Discovering APIs' virtual training course
  • Installation of the Insomnia tool (https://insomnia.rest/download) or another API client)
