On the way to Europe !
The FIDELIS project proposal, in which Recherche Data Gouv participated, has been selected by the European Commission.
This project responds to one of the many calls of the HORIZON-EUROPE program in support of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). It aims to establish a European network of trusted repositories. To achieve this, it aims to harmonize the concepts and definitions of a trusted repository, and to provide adequate support for a European data repository ecosystem. It is scheduled to run for 3 years, with a probable start-up in the first half of 2025.
From late 2023, Recherche Data Gouv has been involved in setting up the FIDELIS consortium, which brings together 24 partners across Europe and is coordinated by CSC in Finland. The project will meet a number of objectives for Recherche Data Gouv, including coordinated work on interoperability between repositories, improving the use of controlled vocabularies, and harmonizing support and guidance practices in this area.
One of the flagship actions in the international strategy of Recherche Data Gouv
While our participation in the FIDELIS project is part of our strategy to make Research Data Gouv an EOSC service, it is not our only action in this field.
In fact, since last February, Recherche Data Gouv has been part of the Skills4EOSC network of Competence Centres. This is a network coordinated across Europe that provides key skills to enable the practice of open science. The aim is to respond to the lack and fragmentation of open science skills by providing training, including for existing staff (lifelong learning).
Looking beyond Europe, Recherche Data Gouv is also proposing the creation of a national data services interest group within the Research Data Alliance (RDA), alongside Canada, South Africa, Japan and Australia.
