Start of the data workshop network
After a fruitful meeting on September 14th, the labelled and on-track data workshops have a structured organization. A rotating board, intermediary between the workshops and the Research Data Gouv steering committee, has been set up. The first leaders of this office are Stéphanie Castex (University of Reims Champagne Ardenne) and Stéphanie Cheviron (University of Strasbourg), who are responsible for their respective workshop. Their mission: to animate the network of workshops and interact with the other mechanisms and governance of the ecosystem. A third person, from a workshop that received the label in the second wave, will complete the team.
In order to bring this network to life and make collective progress, five working groups have been proposed:
- WG1 common application tools for workshop networking
- WG2 professional training for workshop staff
- WG3 toolbox and practical sheets for researchers
- WG4 implementation of a network of referents/data ambassadors in the laboratories
- WG5 support on codes
Each group will be committed to working closely with the other support mechanisms of the Data Gouv research ecosystem, in particular the resource centers, as well as with all of the players already working on these issues, such as Couperin's GTSO Data or the Data College of the Committee for Open Science.
These different working groups will start during this trimester.
The purpose of these groups is above all to capitalize on the resources developed by the workshops and to pool the skills and needs of the workshops, whose generalist missions lead them to address the same issues. The long-term objective is also to open up these discussions to reference centers and to all data stakeholders.
The next meeting of the workshops is scheduled for December 15 and 16 in Grenoble, following the Open Science Days@UGA; this will be an opportunity to refine the roadmap of the WGs and to review the progress of each workshop.
