How to choose a data repository
To share or open up research data, these need to be deposited in a trustworthy data repository that promotes the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) publication of data.
Choosing a data repository
A flowchart at the bottom of the page will help you choose a repository.
Thematic repositories are available in disciplines that are structured to share data.
To find a thematic repository, contact:
- thematic reference centres
- data management clusters
- the re3data directory also lists many national and international repositories.
The Research Data College of the Committee for Open Science proposes a method for identifying trusted thematic repositories, as well as a list of trusted repositories.
If no thematic repository is identified, data producers can deposit their data to (in order of priority):
- An institutional warehouse, if applicable;
- Recherche Data Gouv's institutional multi-disciplinary repository;
- The generic space in Recherche Data Gouv's multidisciplinary repository.
For any questions, please contact the local data management cluster or Recherche Data Gouv's repository-registry.
The objective of the flowchart below is to help people depositing data identify where they can publish their dataset. It is available in a PDF with green background / PDF with white background.
