Curators' charter

Updated at: 15/09/2023

Curator: any person who checks the metadata and data files deposited in the Recherche Data Gouv platform to curate datasets. A curator may suggest modifications to improve the documentary quality of the datasets in compliance with the curators' charter.

The curators of institutional spaces undertake to do the following for each collection they are responsible for:

  1. Ensuring compliance with the rules set out in the General Terms and Conditions of the Recherche Data Gouv Repository-Registry;
  2. Carrying out curation work according to the level defined in the collection in compliance with the guide for curators;
  3. Reviewing datasets sent for that purpose as soon as possible and liaising with the depositor to make sure all modifications are implemented until the dataset is published;
  4. Not modifying a dataset without the agreement of the depositor apart from minor corrections to the syntax and form;
  5. Processing data access requests promptly;
  6. Working with the administrator to identify datasets which are unpublished after 12 months to avoid the platform being used as space for a storage rather than for sharing research data;
  7. Being part of the Recherche Data Gouv platform's network of curators to work on harmonising practices and improving data quality.
